UGDSB schools host socially distanced Terry Fox runs?

September 23, 2020?

GUELPH, Ontario –?While many aspects of school and learning have needed to be adapted this year, schools are still finding ways to come together for a good cause – including with the Terry Fox Run. ?

During the last days of September, students and staff around the Upper Grand District School Board have been taking some time to reflect on the life of Terry Fox, while bringing attention to cancer research. ?

Many UGDSB schools are holding Terry Fox runs, walks or rolls this week and next week by circling the school yard or neighbourhood. ?

This year, in an effort to continue the promotion of social distancing, instead of the whole school going out at once, individual classes are going out during the day one at a time and continuing to maintain?physical?distancing. ?

At Eramosa PS and East Garafraxa PS, each class walked around the school yard individually while encouraging parents and community members to donate directly to the Terry Fox Foundation. ?

At Guelph CVI, students took the day one step further and decided to hold a three-month virtual campaign to help raise awareness about Terry Fox and cancer research. Learn more about the efforts at GCVI on?the board website. ?

Donations can be made directly to The Terry Fox Foundation by visiting,?https://terryfox.org/.?
